♥Turkey is observing the Organ and Tissue Donor Awareness Week. Bodrum Private Hospital (Özel Bodrum Hastanesi) supports this program by spreading the word to encourage potential donors to participate by having a donor card prepared according to the law and carrying it at all times in order to help save a life when the donor’s life is over. This is the greatest gift one can make by allowing the transplant of organs and tissue upon the death of the donor to a patient waiting for a kidney, heart or another organ. It is estimated that each year 3000 new cases of chronic kidney disease occur, mostly among people 20-40 years of age. Donor cards can be obtained from various state health authorities, including the Bodrum State Hospital. They become valid when filled out & witnessed by two persons. Everyone between the ages of 18 and 60 and of sound mind is eligible to become a donor. No generosity is greater than making a precious gift of life as you leave this world!
►The 7th Sailing Race Week organized by Bodrum Milta Marina and the Bodrum Offshore Sailing Club continues, ending on Friday 7 Nov. with an awards ceremony. The wind, or rather its lack, has caused some frustration, but just you wait till the next races! ☻In the meantime the Bodrum sporting scene is about to have a flutter: the famous Mike Adams, the golf coach of American presidents Gerald Ford, Bill Clinton and the two Bushes, and such celebs as Sean Connery, Michael Douglas, Jack Nicholson, Keanu Reeves etc., will be holding two training sessions for groups of 6-12 golfers on 9-11 and 12-14 November at the Vita Park Golf Resort (between Bodrum and Milas). ♫On Tuesday, 4 Nov Bodrum Marmara College is hosting a chamber music concert under the auspices of the Austrian Honorary Consulate in Bodrum. Sigrid Schobel & Taner Türker will play piano & cello interpretations of Bach, Schubert, Mozart, Adnan Saygun and Saint-Saens. Concert begins at 20:00 hrs, with a welcome cocktail at 19:30 hrs. On Saturday 8th Nov at the same venue (Marmara College) at 19:00 hrs Tuncay Yılmaz will give a violin recital accompanied on the piano by Perim Hamidoğlu.
