In Bodrum, a new design center will be opened named after famous Turkish fashion designer Cemil İpekçi. While visiting Bodrum Mayor Mehmet Kocadon, İpekçi talked to reporters explaining his ongoing project.

İpekçi said he has been visiting Bodrum since 1963. “Apart from being a center of entertainment and tourism, Bodrum is also a center of culture. I will try to visit Bodrum more frequently and contribute to its cultural life.”

İpekçi said he had opened another “Cemil İpekçi Design Center” in the southeastern city of Mardin three years ago. “Similarly, in the design center that we are planning to open in Bodrum, there will be handicraft and design courses for housewives. Instructors and designers who have been working with me will stay here for one year and train new trainers. As far as we know, there is huge demand for such kind of a facility from the youth of Bodrum.” Mehmet Kocadon said he and İpekçi had planned joint projects before but this time he especially wanted İpekçi to develop a project aimed at housewives.
