The Bodrum Cup, Wooden Yacht’s Regatta

From Bodrum Cup

Organized by ERA Bodrum Sailing Club, the Bodrum Cup is an annual regatta that aims to promote interest and skill in sailing among the captains and crews of Bodrum’s charter fleet.

Since its launch in 1989, the five-day yachting festival has been held at different ports or Marin of Bodrums every year in the third week of October. It is renowned for its focus on friendly competition and fun social events.

Held in the autumn, it celebrates the end of the region’s charter season and brings together all the sailing yachts based in Bodrum that have been cruising solo over the summer months.

Challenging in The Bodrum Cup

But, it doesn’t just highlight sailing to locally-based enthusiasts; the event also aims to showcase Turkey’s cruising grounds and the country’s charter fleet of gulet yachts to the world at large.

The event also serves as an ideal opportunity for inexperienced sailors to undertake a regatta charter and try their hand at sailing alongside an expert crew.

Moreover, a precursory event – the Bodrum Cup Istanbul Challenge – sees the gulets race from the Turkish capital to Bodrum over 10 days. Before the challenge begins, industry professionals are invited to board the fleet at a viewing event supported by TYBA – the Turkish Yacht Brokers Association.

Away from the racing, the on-land entertainment program will include an opening event, a cooking competition, parties, and a prize-giving ceremony.
