Tony Marciniec received his taste of journalism working on high school and university publications. Following graduation from the University of Detroit he completed his military service as an officer in the U.S. Air Force serving assignments in France, Greece and Turkey. His first venture into professional journalism was tin 1963 with the publication, together with his wife Emel, of the first English-language guide to Istanbul, "The Istanbul Insider". Later he wrote for and/or edited the following publication: Lat 37NautiNews, Bodrum News, Aegean Sun, Bodrum Post and now Explore Bodrum LIFE. He also contributes articles to the Turkish-language Bodrum Life (formerly Bodrum Magazin) . Tony Marciniec is also a keen sailor who has sailed extensively in the Aegean and the Mediterranean. His other interests include research into the history of Bodrum and the region with the intention of publishing a work on this subject.
